Government’s Announcement of New Deadline
The Government of Nepal has announced a one-month extension for taxpayers to file their tax returns and pay revenue. The earlier deadline of 25th Bhadra (September 11) has now been pushed to 25th Ashoj (October 11).
Decision by the Finance Minister
Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal stated that taxpayers can now submit the details and payments for:
Monthly Value Added Tax (VAT) for Shrawan 2082
Tax Deducted at Source (TDS)
Education Service Fee
Luxury Fee
within the new extended deadline.
Extension Due to Circumstances Beyond Control
This extension has been granted under the “circumstances beyond control” provision in Nepal’s tax regulations. Nationwide curfew and prohibitory orders imposed on 23rd and 24th Bhadra made it impossible for taxpayers to submit returns or pay taxes on time. Recognizing this situation, the government decided to extend the deadline to support taxpayers.
Waiver of Penalties and Additional Charges
Taxpayers who file their returns and make payments within the extended deadline will enjoy:
Complete waiver of penalties
No additional late fees or interest charges
Relief from administrative charges
This ensures that no taxpayer is unfairly penalized for delays caused by unavoidable events.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

If you fail to file and pay by 25th Ashoj, regular penalties, interest charges, and administrative fees will apply as per Nepal’s tax laws.
